With the current economic crisis, there have been significant market pressures for corporations to decrease current operating expenses to mitigate projected losses. The net result in the procurement arena is that because of this corporate cost-cutting and supplier consolidation, there have been a tremendous loss of minority Tier 1 suppliers in the financial, automotive and telecom industries. We at FMCRC agree with the need for supplier consolidation being that most corporations are in “survival mode” and will be for the next few years. Because of this, and the need now to rebuild the minority business pipeline of potential Tier 1 companies, it is critical for there to be a significant increase in minority Tier 3 companies within the financial, automotive, and telecom industries. In response to this need, FMCRC will host the "Let's Do Business Florida (LDBF) event, modeled after the LDB event created by the Financial Consortium in California. LDB-Now. This is a one-day event that will be incorporated into this year's annual Florida Minority Community Economic Development Summit, and is scheduled one day before the Summit.
