Auto Access:
There continues to be significant racial and ethnic disparities in the Automotive Industry as it relates to dealerships, procurement, philanthropy and senior management. Reports also indicate that minorities are subject to redlining when purchasing a new vehicle that subjects them to predatory lending practices (click here for example report).
In Florida, the racial and ethnic disparities in the Automotive Industry are even far greater, especially when you review auotomotive data north of Miami-Dade. There is an obvious lack of racial diversity in local dealerships (north of Miami-Dade) to include access to supplier opportunities, philanthropy and senior management positions with individual dealerships. In addition, there is a lack of divesity in the ranks of automotive manufacturers for Florida's minority communities, businesses and organizations.
To address this diversity gap in the automotive gap, FMCRC has launched Auto Access to assist with racial and ethnic diversity development in both Florida dealerships and with automotive manufacturers for Florida's minority and ethnic communities, organizations and businesses. The foundation of Auto Access is to request Florida racial and ehtnic data from both dealerships and auto manufacturers.
To assist in the development of racial and ethnic diversity development in the automotive industry, selected automanufacturers have been requested to present their Diversity Programs at the Let's Do Business Florida conference June 17th at the Marriott Beach Resort in Ft. Lauderdale. To date the following automotive manufacturers have accepted and will conduct Diversity Presentations:
General Motors Company, Hyundai Motor Company, NISSAN USA, Southeast Toyota
We invite you to attend this Automotive Diversity Forum and engage these automotive manufacturers for access and opportunities for your business, organization or community.
